Saint-Étienne, France
Biennale Internationale Design
Officially commenced on March 21st, 2019
The "Living" exhibition area at the "Modern Pavilion" where smartmi products were presented consisted mainly of household products such as furniture, appliances, and decorations, presenting audiences with a modern living environment. Other Chinese companies excelling in design, such as Chow Tai Fook, also appeared in this exhibition.
At the exhibition, smartmi showcased products closely related to people's daily lives, including the smartmi DC Variable Frequency Air Conditioner, Natural Wind Fan, Evaporative Humidifier, Antibacterial Humidifier, Smart Bidet Toilet Seat, Smart Convector Heater, Mi Air Purifier Max, and Breathlite Anti-smog Mask.
One of the most well-known design exhibitions in France, the Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Étienne was first held in 1998 and displays distinguished pieces in the design field biannually. This prestigious exhibition is held in the same light as the National Design Triennial, Milan Design Week, and the London Design Festival.
Smartmi considers this participation in the Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Étienne as an important step in demonstrating the proficiency of its product designs. Smartmi previously received four major international industrial design awards, including the Red Dot Design Award in Germany, the Good Design Award in Japan, the International Design Excellence Awards in the U.S., and the iF DESIGN AWARD in Germany. The Smartmi Evaporative Humidifier received these four international design awards within one year of it entering the market. The Smartmi DC Variable Frequency Air Conditioner was the first product in mainland China to win the Gold Award at the Good Design Awards (G-mark) in Japan. These achievements are a clear sign of Smartmi's design expertise.
When most people think of design, refined works of art are what most commonly come to mind. However, unlike typical works of art, industrial design is more down-to-earth. Household electric appliances need to be both beautiful in appearance as well as suitable for use. Industrial design must address user requirements in order to make life easier and more comfortable.
As a lifestyle-oriented company, Smartmi hopes to make users' lives the best they can be with its electric appliances. Dr. Su Jun, CEO of Smartmi, said that "A product that touches people is one which people can hardly tear themselves away from, and makes them even want to clutch onto it as they sleep."
When it comes to innovation, Smartmi remains steadfast in carrying out people-oriented design, as well as discovering product shortcomings and pain points by utilizing insights gained from keeping people's underlying use requirements in mind. This way, the user experience is gradually improved for every product, and provides users with the joy and pleasure that comes with home appliances also being works of art.
